Inspired by May, our daughter, May House Timber is a Tasmanian workshop crafting bespoke furniture from Australian timbers with meticulous attention to detail.
At May House Timber, we believe each creation is unique and preferences in timbers are different, yet special.
Select the timber you love across Tasmanian Oak, Messmate, Wormy Chestnut, Blackbutt and more at no extra cost, and witness your vision transform from raw materials to finished masterpieces through our provided progress updates.
All our timbers are locally grown and processed in Tasmania.
May House Timber honour the traditional method of woodworking, NOT cabinet making. Therefore all our furniture is entirely made from Australian timbers, locally and sustainably sourced without MDF chipboard, melamine or veneer premade cabinets involved.
World best European made hardware is installed directly on 100% Australian hardwood carcasses in every single build.
To embrace and support local made just like ours, all our furniture components (such as hardware, screws & more) are Australian made and distributed.
This dedication to quality, customisation, and sustainability makes May House Timber the ideal choice for those seeking unique and exquisite Tasmanian-made furniture.
Enhancing Australian craftsmanship, May House Timber prioritises the time-honoured concept and single-man workshop.
Each piece is built entirely in-house by a single craftsman, ensuring exceptional quality and personalised service.
Thanks to this, you will be updated with every step of the build progress from start to finish once your build commences.
We love keeping you in touch with a story of your own design by sending you photos & videos during the making, so that you can see how your own piece comes to life in its unique way.
May House Timber prioritises responsible practices, utilising only Australian materials and minimising waste.
While landfill is unavoidable, however, we believe we have choices to take action and do what we can within our human power.
Our workshop has been in production for years without the need of industrial skip bins.
From raw and untreated wood shavings to garden stakes, these are also given out to local communities and taken to a new life with purposes and mission to serve another cycle of nature.
Contact us if you are interested in these giveaways as we have them weekly or fortnightly.
May House Timber is named after our daughter, May.
The idea of May House Timber was created by Bao Nguyen, who has been working as Mechanical Designer engineer since 2011*.
In 2016, Bao got invited to finish his Honours in Production Design at RMIT university in order to enlarge his vision of design.
Throughout these years of work, creation, and evaluation of many design concepts, it comes to the fascinating fact that woodworking has naturally become his greatest passion.
Together with his wife Anh Nguyen, who graduated as creative art designer from LaTrobe University**, May House Timber was founded based on the concept of sustainable and recyclable materials.
Once it was started as a passion, forever it will be.
And since aspiration can bring joy to people, then it becomes our life mission.
*Qualification: Honours Mechanical Engineering & Production Design;
