No one enjoys those never-ending terms & conditions, however you should better be informed rather than being left unanswered or guessing. 'But I'm fine with being left outside!'- said no one ever. Have a read and if you'd like to enquire any other details, let us know.
May House Timber provides the following Terms & Conditions in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law.
We provide bespoke, handmade furniture from recycled timber and this information is offered in the context of what our Customers should expect from May House Timber subject to acceptance of the following disclaimer.
TIMBER DISCLAIMER:
- Due to the diversity and the un-predictive nature of our authentic & decorative timbers, please be advised that each creation is unique in terms of its own wood tone & characters. (Fact: you can't find the same tree in the forest, they're all distinctive and matchless.) We undertake to match the timber as close as possible to your preferences as described to us in the order form. However, we cannot guarantee to reproduce an exact match to the appearance and tone of the timber from a product displayed on our website as we only have access to the timber that is available at the time. We will not offer any refunds, replacement or exchanges for pieces for which the timber has been picked to your requirements unless otherwise required by law.
- As our furniture is an entire solid hardwood structure, please acknowledge timber movement is predictable. The intensity level of this movement depends on its storage environment, such as temperature & humidity. For example, moisture held within the timber can dry when moved to a heated environment. When a change in environment occurs quickly, small splits in the timber may appear and timber movement may occur. This is to be expected and is not a defect, but part of the natural adaptation process.
- All of our timber is furniture grade timber obtained by us from third party suppliers. Our suppliers have informed us that the timber moisture content levels do not exceed 12% but we cannot guarantee that every piece of timber has been checked.
- You may experience one or a small number of fine cracks and/or visible unfilled knots, this is completely normal and keep in mind that all are completely treated and sealed from inside out. As long as the water treatment and its overall structure remains, you’re good to enjoy these works of art as timber lovers do.
- You may also experience that there might be a slight difference in overall timber colour, tone, and characters. The beauty of timber reveals from the fact that all timber slabs are distinctive in looks even if they come from the same tree, as all trees are unique and varied from season to season. Furthermore, given the fact that your furniture is made from real natural timber, the timber will be ageing over time, so please give them time to be in their equilibrium stage. With time all surfaces would visually appear consistent regarding these factors.
- Given the fact that all our vanity works are not made from DAR, as well as they’re not involved with melamine or chipboard premade cabinets, please expect raw & unfilled visual appearance of internal carcass surfaces. Our furniture internal carcasses are a fully entire hardwood structure, and since they are made from 100% Australian reclaimed timber, they do not essentially appear flush internally and externally. They are, nevertheless, completely treated and sealed. Their water repellent performance level is equal to the furniture usable surface.
- With regards to our timber selection procedure, your timber will be finalised based on your provided timber preferences once your order is booked in for manufacturing. Please be initially informed that for cabinet structure builds (such as: vanity, tv unit, etc), you’ll be invited to choose your preferred timber arrangement for the unit front view(s) only. Timber used for making the unit carcass (including unit top, sides, and bottom) will be also arranged based on your advised timber preferences, however the timber selection procedure for this will not be accessible.

- Customers are highly recommended to take out insurance coverage with your insurance provider, or the FedEx-TNT Extended Warranty which is the transportation company May House Timber has been using. Class C Unrestricted Warranty cover is suggested, Cost is $6.00 (plus $0.60 GST) per $100 value, as quoted & described by TNT Extended Warranty:
‘‘We agree to deliver the goods (including glassware, fragile goods, porcelain, ceramics, enamel goods, computers, mobile phones, electrical goods and white goods) to the location identified in the consignment note in the same condition that goods were delivered to us. It covers freight from the time of pick-up to the time of delivery. If the goods are not so delivered, we will pay the value of the goods, or if the goods are damaged the reasonable cost of repair of the goods. Our liability to you is limited to the amount of the Extended Warranty elected on the consignment note. All prices are subject to change without prior notice.’’
- If you request to proceed your order without Insurance, this is your tacit agreement that you choose not to insure the goods and are taking risk with any issues that arise during the shipment of your order once it leaves May House Timber workshop.
While the likelihood of any problem arising is low, it has been found that when things go wrong when a customer chooses not to insure the goods that the risk far outweighs the benefit.
- If you do not accept the insurance charge, you will do so at your own risk and any damage and/or loss is your responsibility.
In all cases, we HIGHLY recommend the optional protection of insurance.
Regardless of which method you choose to receive your order, you accept the item(s) conditions as they are presented. To the extent permitted by law, under May House Timber Pty Ltd T&Cs, May House Timber is not liable for loss of or damage to your shipment.
- If you wish to make an adjustment/ cancellation of your order, an early notice with us in advance of 28 days is required. Please be advised a maximum of 30% cancellation & administration fee may occur. Delayed or sudden notice may void the refund policy.
